Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits –
who forgives all your sins  and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

 How long, Lord? Will you forget me for ever?  How long will you hide your face from me?
 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts  and day after day have sorrow in my heart? (v1-2)

All my longings lie open before you, Lord:  my sighing is not hidden from you.
 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;  even the light has gone from my eyes. (v9-10)

Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you.
May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. (v1-2)

Listen, I tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed  in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’

‘Where, O death, is your victory?
    Where, O death, is your sting?’

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?  Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him,
my Saviour and my God. (v5)

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning (v5-6)
